Default help! keyboard freeze?!?!

so tonite i was working on stuff in CS2 and went to change some of the text i had typed previously - i wanted to move half a sentence down a level and so i positioned my cursor with my mouse and hit 'enter', as you do. But nothing happened.... and then i realised my keyboard shortcuts weren't working when i went to make a new text box and i got terribly scared i would never be able to type on this laptop again!!!! (cos then i switched to firefox and realised i couldnt even type in the google toolbar!!)

So i rebooted (my basic solution to any problem!) and it seems fine now but what was that and will it happen again?!?! - i'm freaked!!!

i dont think it is neccessarily a memory problem cos i only had CS2 and firefox open and would usu have a few other programs running too. I'm asking here cos i couldnt figure out the right bunch of words to type re: this problem into google - it kept turning out recommendations for typing tutor programs and such!

anyone had this happen? any advice is helpful? thanx

When I have too much open in PSE, sometimes my mouse freezes up and I can't use it...and I have to use the keyboard shortcuts for a while. In a few minutes it usually returns....and something usually was happening in the background...like an auto-download of anti-virus or something.

I hope you figure out your problem...that is frustrating!

Did you try typing something in notepad? If you had no luck with it then it's your keyboard itself and not the program. Have you or someone spilled anything on it?

Sorry, no advice, but I use wireless, so when that happens to me, it's time to change the batteries. When I did have a reg keyboard tho, occasionally (and I have NO idea why) my computer would literally kick my keyboard out and I would have to go into Device Manager and reinstall it.

It sounds like a mouse and or keyboard problem.

My mouse had frozen a few times this week. A quick shake and a good wack and it was okay for a while then it would freeze again.
Last night I was chatting on IM. The mouse froze. Shaking and wacking did nothing this time. I "typed" in IM to say I was rebooting and be back. Keyboard was fine. I cleaned the bottom of the mouse and after rebooting, the mouse worked. I logged back onto IM. The mouse seemed okay but when I tried to type in IM, nothing was happening. The cursor was blinking but wasn't moving and no text showed up. Then the mouse was frozen again. I unplugged/replugged the keyboard and mouse. Still nothing. I reinstalled the keyboard drivers. Still nothing. I tried the usb mouse from the laptop and it worked fine but the keyboard wouldn't work - the caps lock/number lock lights weren't lit up. Dh got an old keyboard from the garage and it works fine. I installed a Wacom a week ago and thought there may be driver conflicts but disconnecting the Wacom didn't help and it's working fine with this old keyboard and mouse. What are the odds of both keyboard and mouse dying at the same time? UGH! So now I have to go buy new ones.

Try reinstalling drivers and if that doesn't help try another keyboard and mouse if you have spares. If that doesn't work then I'd say you and I both need to go shopping!
