Default How do I load fonts in Windows Vista?

I'm sitting here hyperventilating. I haven't yet loaded my fonts on my new system and I need them. I can't find how to do it. Please help. How do I load fonts in Vista?

Yep, I go to control Panel, fonts and then there's all the installed fonts but no option to install new ones.

There used to be a menu option under "file" that said "install fonts".

I'll consult with google.

I dont know if you have many fonts but if you do, I'd recommend a good fontmanager (I use Extensis Suitcase myself) so that your system wont slow down from all the fonts in your system folder. Just a little tip

Thanks Biancka. I'll do that. There are over 500 fonts that were installed with Vista that I just will never use.

The Microsoft web site gives the same instructions - click file > install fonts

But there is no "file" menu item. I ended up finding it in the context menu.

Do you have a menu at the top? With File Edit View Tools and Help? If not check your settings in the Control Panel for Folder Options then the View tab make sure Always Show Menus is checked.

I'm having the same problem moving my fonts from my desktop computer to my laptop. Still haven't figured it out. But I did learn that in order to get the "file" option to show up in the windows control panel font folder on the laptop, you can tap the "alt" key!

I just use Windows Explorer and install my fonts from the folder that I downloaded and unzipped them into C: Windows>fonts. I do get the annoying "do you want to continue" message; but I click OK and they are either moved or copied into the fonts folder.

I have Vista too and I open the font folder and then open control manager in a new window. At the top it has a search thing and I type in "Install fonts" and it brings it up in the help menu off to the side. Then I have the step by step (with clickable links since I can never remember where it is) to help me do it.
