Default do you ever feel comment pressure?

i do. every time i comment on a layout, i want to make it special, make sure that i acknowledge the time and effort the scrapper put into it. and if i can't do that, i often feel so overwhelmed and like i'm not doing a good job and just give up. does that happen to you at all?

I know exactly what you are talking about. Its hard to really put in to words what makes a layout special and I feel like just saying "Love this layout" or something is generic but then I run in to that pressure of trying to find the right words.

well, after reading the pet peeve thread i don't want to click on a layout to look at it closer unless i know i have time to stop and comment - otherwise i'm considered a 'drive by'. ugh.

LOL! I know what you mean, but I try to post a lot, so I don't want to waste time being original. I say whatever it was that drew me to click on that layout, even if it's what drew in the person above me, too. The way I see it, if there is one aspect of one of my own LOs that I'm feeling pretty good about and several people compliment me on it, it affirms me just as much as if everyone commented on something different.

Commenting is lots of fun to me, but when I browse through the gallery, I notice that there are lots that get 10+ comments and lots that get none or just 1. I have been one of the latter, so I always try to comment on that kind, too, since someone put hard work into it, and even if it's not my style, I can still appreciate their sense of creativity, kwim?

That last paragraph was totally unrelated to the topic, but I thought, What a great opportunity to share my opinion, and really, who can resist that?

I think most people would rather be acknowledged with a "Love it" then receive no comment at all.

i try to pick one thing specifically to comment on....color combo, picture, accent use...whatever drew me to it in the first place. But I agree with Hollie, personally, I'd be happy enough with a "love it!" or "great layout, thanks for sharing" type then nothing at all

I always comment on every LO I go check out closer. With that said I always try to explain why I like the LO I could never just write "great job"..I wouldn´t be happy to see such a comment on my own LO, so I try to make my comments a bit longer
But that never happens at DST, but a lot of times at other places..that is one of the reasons why DST rocks!

Well I'm the type who gives those generic type of comments but I really mean what I say and I try my best not to make it so generic, it's just that I'm no good with words I just hope that the ones who receive my comments would appreciate it

Lauren, there's another way of looking at it and I hope you'll reconsider clicking. I now (didn't always though) consider the amount of of views I get with pleasure - with or without a comment! The idea that a dozen or so people actually took the time to look closer at my work thrills me!

Just imagine getting no views at all. I think that being so ignored, I might wonder if there was any purpose of posting at all!

Just another point of view!

Well, getting any comment from a top designer like Meredith would make my day!

There's a couple types of responses I usually have:

1) Blows me away/amazing
2) Theres some stuff I really love about it
2) My scrap friend did it and I want to be supportive
3) It's in the Praise Game
4) The LO needs some love

Sometimes I wish you could just push a button and it would generate a comment like "great LO!" or "Love the colors" or "Stunning!" just because of the sheer volume of great work being produced. I pretty much keep up w/the Scrapartist and Quirk Galleries but I neglect the DST gallery which makes me sad but there's only so much time in the day.
