Default NSBR ~ abcess in my abdomen

I constantly live with cysts on my ovaries. But I've been haveing really bad pain there and high fevers. The doctor gave me anitbiotics but If I don't improve through the weekend I have to have an ultrasound.

Has this happened to anyone? A possible abcess?

I'm sorry. I have no idea what this could be. I just wanted to say I hope it's nothing serious and you start feeling better soon!

I had a patient with an intraabdominal abscess last week and I can tell you from what she said it is EXTREMELY painful!!! She lives in constant pain due to another illness and takes Oxy and Percocett daily (for years) and that did nothing for the pain. We had her on a PCA with Morphine and she was still complaining. So I would say if you are in pain, but not DYING in pain that its possible but unlikely that it is an intraabdominal abscess.

I'm sure you know that ovarian cysts can be extremely painful, especially when they rupture. If you have never had one that ruptured before you might not know that.

But one thing I would be careful of is could it possibly be an ectopic pregnancy? Pain in that area, and a fever would be a big sign indicating this. If this has not been ruled out, and you are of childbearing years I would have this checked out. EVEN If you are on the pill, have had your tubes tied, have a husband who has been snipped, etc.....NOTHING is 100% effective and an ectopic pregnancy can be very very serious if not treated.

Just my 2 cents....

probably not - but- i was just diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. i've always had trouble with ovarian cysts, had 2 rupture (holy moly, pain!), but since a spinal cord injury have had to take meds like they're candy. of course, now having issues with reflux, abdominal pain, and other problems of a rather indelicate nature. the fever and lack of response to antibiotics made my doc think uc. gross.

keeping my fingers crossed for you that the problem is quickly solved.

Oh my gosh, I can't imagine what you are going through or all the pain you feel. I've had ovarian cysts but they did not cause me much pain. Endometriosis causes me pain. However, an abcess would be extremely painful! Good luck! Please let us know the results of your testing.
