As requested by another poster ... I am starting a thread to discuss the positives of McCain. It seems those that are in favor of or leaning more towards McCain spend too much time bad-mouthing Obama instead of good-mouthing McCain. So let's do it. Why is McCain the right man for the job? What is it about him? And if you are still undecided as I am, but leaning more towards McCain - explain the reasons why?

Thank you. I really do appreciate it. I would love to see why many people like McCain.

I'm sure there can be a thread where positives are listed about each candidate without bashing. I would hope that everyone here can be respectful of that.

I for one like the fact that he is tough on earmarks. Yes I do know that some of them can do good for a community ... but some of them are just downright outrageous. Over $18 billion a year is spent on ridiculous earmarks. There needs to be another way to get the money you need without throwing it into an important bill. I know McCain has voted against a couple bills that he really supported because of the earmarks.

Don't worry about what other people think about your reasons. They are your reasons. They can go ahead and try to prove you wrong ... it still won't change the reasons you feel that way. Stand up for McCain just like the Obama supporters stand for him.

I am taking a copy from an earlier text when ask what I wanted as a Conservative voter. I think the McCain Palin ticket is in line with my beliefs. This is my positives, my opinions and why I voted the way I did. There are many other positives but these are the ones that mean the MOST to ME and are not be misconstrued as me preaching to anyone
__________________ We all have our own sets of beliefs and must be able to live with that decision at the end of the day.Originally Posted by Glueless Media I want a country that believes in if you work hard, you will prosper. I have because I do and have worked hard. I want a free market where we can purchase, and have choices. Capitialism is what drives a successful society and market and work place. I want freedom of religion to express my faith and to worship in the way I want to. I want freedom to be able to walk down the street safely and not worry if the ball game(church service, VA Hospital, etc) I am sitting at is going to be bombed by some terrorist radical organization that my president has had a cup of Java with the week before. I want my children to have a safer world all around. Keeping those at bay who would deem to hurt my family, destroy the NAtion and Freedoms we have, HERE and abroad HAS to be done. VA Hospitals ( which we have experience in) are NOT the way to go for healthcare I am very prolife and pro tradtional marriage. So that being said you can see my reasoning. Taxes, gas prices, cost of living, education, healthcare are all concerns to me and any American and have us all concerned but I don't think Obama is the answer. I guess I hold in hopes that Palin will be the fresh face who helps make a difference on the Fed scene. Overturning Roe v. Wade-Conservative Supreme Court John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench. Protecting Marriage As president, John McCain would nominate judges who understand that the role of the Court is not to subvert the rights of the people by legislating from the bench. Critical to Constitutional balance is ensuring that, where state and local governments do act to preserve the traditional family, the Courts must not overstep their authority and thwart the Constitutional right of the people to decide this question. The family represents the foundation of Western Civilization and civil society and John McCain believes the institution of marriage is a union between one man and one woman. It is only this definition that sufficiently recognizes the vital and unique role played by mothers and fathers in the raising of children, and the role of the family in shaping, stabilizing, and strengthening communities and our nation. A Strong Military in a Dangerous World In a dangerous world, protecting America's national security requires a strong military. Today, America has the most capable, best-trained and best-led military force in the world. But much needs to be done to maintain our military leadership, retain our technological advantage, and ensure that America has a modern, agile military force able to meet the diverse security challenges of the 21st century. John McCain is committed to ensuring that the men and women of our military remain the best, most capable fighting force on Earth - and that our nation honors its promises to them for their service. The global war on terrorism He will ensure that the war against terrorists is fought intelligently, with patience and resolve, using all instruments of national power. Moreover, he will lead this fight with the understanding that to impinge on the rights of our own citizens or restrict the freedoms for which our nation stands would be to give terrorists the victory they seek. Protecting Second Amendment Rights John McCain believes that the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms is a fundamental, individual Constitutional right that we have a sacred duty to protect. We have a responsibility to ensure that criminals who violate the law are prosecuted to the fullest, rather than restricting the rights of law abiding citizens. Gun control is a proven failure in fighting crime. Law abiding citizens should not be asked to give up their rights because of criminals - criminals who ignore gun control laws anyway. Taxes: Simpler, Fair, Pro-Growth and Competitive Pro-Growth Tax Policy Keep Tax Rates Low: Workplace Flexibility in a Changing Economy I think that McCain has the knowledge, the strength, the experience to prevail in all of these tasks. I don't plan to change anyones mind but now you know why I voted for the ticket.Workplace Flexibility and Choice Text taken directly from website.. I believe our next President must stand for lower taxes and less wasteful government spending. I think his running mate will help with all of these plus bring her energy experience to the table also. I believe she is a whole lot smarter than we give her credit and that she has been mishandled and not allowed to show her strengths. Freedom, liberty, small government and personal accountability is what my vote is for.

I believe McCain is the stronger leader. We need someone to lead our country and military and stress more personal liberty over gov't solving problems for us. We need to learn to start doing things on our own and taking responsibility for the actions instead of just depending on the gov't to take care of things.

We need someone up there that truely has experience, someone we really know about, not affraid to stop spending in congress or stand up to them, stand up against his own party and also the Democrates, knows what makes this country strong and most importantly to me, he will make sure our country is first on his list!!
