Well, I got a few things figured out, Thanks to you digi gals!
Now, I need to know, if I have 3 or 4 layers on my bk. ground page, and I want to add something else to it, do I need to 'lock' them down, or is it 'flatten' the image? When I try to add my WHOLE lo to another piece of cropped paper, only pieces of my lo will drag over. Hope this makes sense. ![]() Also, how do I crop a circle? I've done a ring, I click the crop tool and it only shows a square. Last edited by mimi1166; 10-23-2006 at 05:05 AM. |

If your trying to move your LO somewhere else, then yes only the active layer is going to move. So if your trying to move the LO then yes you need to flatten the image. but remember once you flatten it, you cant go back and change it. Unless you hit the undo button.
__________________Are you using your selection tool? or the cookie cutter tool? the cookie cutter tool is the one shaped as a heart. when you click on it, at the top there will be a drop down selection box for you to choose your shape. If your doing this with the selection tool, marque tool. on the top menu right next to the doted square, there is a dotted oval. just click that one. Jess |

I only flatten when I'm done with a layout and then only for printing purposes. Have you tried linking the layers and then dragging them as a group? I have PSE 2 - in the Layers palette I select one of the layers I want to link and then click in the little box just to the left of the layer thumbnail to get an icon in that box of a piece of chain. Do this for each layer you want to link. To unlink just click on the chain.

Actually, you CAN move all the layers in a LO without flattening them. Have them all selected (click top layer, hold down shift and click the last layer), and then click one of those selected layers & drag it over. You should see multiple outlines representing your layers as you drag. I would recommend locking the layers if you want all of those layers to "stick together" on your new paper, but if you're wanting to move them around after the relocation, it doesn't matter.
__________________I imagine this would work ok with the cut & paste method of moving, but I know it works when you use the "tile windows" method of moving, since that's what I do.

I just move the cropped paper onto my current layout. It's easier to move one thing at a time. You can do ctrl-A (select all), ctrl-C (copy) and then go back to your layout and type ctrl-v (paste). If it isn't layered properly, then move it within your layers pallete.
__________________To crop a circle, change your selection tool to a circle. It will have a square around it but there will be a circle in the square. Click on the "move" tool and then drag the selelction onto your layout. Another way to do it is to use the cookie cutter tool. This will actually crop your paper into a circle. The cookie cutter tool is a heart shaped tool. After you get the circle, hit the green check box at the top of the tool bar. ![]() |
