Default How long does a pinched nerve or pulled muscle in your neck last?

The day before yesterday I hurt my neck. I don't know what I did.
Yesterday, I couldn't lift my right arm, move my head, and the pain was going down my right side through my hip.

Before when I have done this, they've given me an anti-inflammatory, but I'm pregnant, and tried just taking Tylenol. I finally called my OB yesterday morning and they called in Tylenol with codeine and told me if it wasn't feeling better today to go in so they could check it.

This morning it's easing, I can move my arm, so I don't know if I should go in or not.

But, how long does this kind of pain last when you can't take the normal medicine they would give you for this? I'm going to let the last tylenol with codeine wear off (I took it at 1:30 a.m.) and see how I feel before I decide on the appointment or not, especially with the blizzard coming our way. Hoping I can stand just regular tylenol because I hate taking narcotics when I'm pregnant, not to mention they knock me out and it's hard to take care of my other 3 when I'm a walking zombie.

I fell last Wednesday on the ice & strained my neck. It didn't start hurting really badly until Thursday & I had really bad pain Thursday & Friday. I went for massage therapy on both Thursday & Friday & it's still a little sore now. Not painful, but stiff neck & sore. I've had neck pain before, too, & I think about a week is normal for something like this. Can you get any kind of massage therapy done? It was really what helped me so much. The worked just on the spot on my neck that was sore. I know massage isn't recommended for pregnant women, but if you go to the right therapist, they'll know exactly what they can & can't do (I'm pretty sure it's the lower back they have to stay away from, but neck & shoulders are OK).

I had a pinched nerve a couple of different times. The last time I thought I had just slept funny on it, yet was in horrific pain. It lasted about a week- my chiropractor was able to finish it off, once I finally decided to go see him. I hope it feels better soon- that's no fun!

I should really go see my chiropractor shouldn't I? He'll yell at me for not going in so long.

I've never had a massage. That sounds nice too. Pato tries, but he hurts me. He doesn't know his own strength.

Also keep your diet as neat as possible -low salt if you can and natural foods, until you can figure it out will help a little with any related inflammation. Hope you get relief soon!

I experienced several neck and back muscle issue because of my line of work. The only thing that used to give me complete relief for the longest time was the chiropractor.
And he was mad at me every time!

Go try it and get off those meds! Good Luck

Heather, I feel your pain. I have had neck problems before. I have gone to a Chiropractor and a Massage Therapist. They usually give me some relief. But one time, neither of them could. I ended up going to physical therapy. They gave me several exercises to do. I still have the exercises prescribed to me on paper that describe in detail what to do, how many reps and how many sessions in a day to do them. If you'd want to I'd be happy to email them to you. PM me if you'd like.
Hope you feel relief soon!
