Default Ugh...Rude People!!

What is WITH people nowadays? Sheesh. I was in Starbucks today...I rarely go, but it was a treat for myself today...anyhow, I walk in and I see two girls behind the counter, one walks away to help another lady in the store, and the other comes and serves me. As I'm standing there waiting for my drinks, I hear a big commotion over at the till...so obviously I start listening, lol. It's not like I was eavesdropping, the woman was yelling, lol!

Anyway...the woman was completely bawling the poor girl out because of a price difference on a pacakge of coffee! The girl had scanned it in and told her the price, and she flipped right the heck out. She was screaming at her about the price being different on the board, and the girl was like "I'm sorry, that's the price it scanned as, I can't change it" (or something to that effect), to which the woman got even more irate and yelled at her about not being able to change it, and how the prices were different, etc.

Now in all fairness, I think that the girl should not have said she couldn't change it...but she probably just wasn't sure how to react in this situation, lol. But this lady was ALL over her about a price difference of COFFEE for goodness sakes! If she didn't like the price, just leave and buy Folgers at Walmart...sheesh!

I wish I'd have said something. I should have said "just cause you're old, it doesn't give you the right to be rude". LOL! I thought of that once I got back in the car, unfortunately. She wasn't really OLD, though...like in her 50's or maybe a bit older than that.

I just can't stand how little respect people in the service industry get. We work for a low wage most of the time, and people treat us like we're dirt because we're serving them. Ugh. Just can't stand rude people. I told DH the story in the car, and he was like "why didn't you stand up for them? you should have!", lol!

That's terrible! I used to be a sales associate and when someone starts ragging on you it's hard to stay focused and say the right thing. When that has happened to me it had ruined my whole day. I would just keep thinking about it and feel embarassed. Glad I'm a SAHM now!

Manners, politeness, respect...all of these seem to be dwindling! It is always such a breath of fresh air when you meet someone who is actually "nice" these days!

Sheesh...she must've been having a bad day. I'm sure there are price discrepancies all the time in stores. Sheesh...the girl told her what it actually scanned for and the lady can then decide to still take it or leave it @@

I agree she!

Sounds like she was having some major caffeine withdraws but that's still no excuse!

I don't think that most people are rude nowadays, I just think that the rude ones are louder and more attention-whoring.

Fast food (or fast coffee) is really hard work. The shifts are usually either too long (because it is hard to keep people in these jobs) or too short (because they don't want to pay too many people, so you can end up just working 2 hours at lunch). They are on their feet the whole time and usually the conditions are hot and sweaty. They have to deal with money, customers and managers as well as making food/drinks. All this for minimum wage. Yea!

Default Rude

Hi
Thats interesting - I hate people who shout at staff in any line of work - shows no respect.
In the UK, if something is labelled at a price, and the till says higher, you pay lower price. There is a big thing going on here at the moment, where people are looking for mistakes, so getting things cheaper - mainly in supermarkets lol.
