Default Attaching backdrop to stand?

Hi all,

I bought some of the vellux blankets from JCPenney that everyone was talking about a couple of months ago (they had a major sale a few weeks ago and free shipping.) I also bought a backdrop stand a few months ago.

I'm finally getting around to trying to figure out how to set everything up. For those of you that use fabric/blankets as a backdrop, how do you attach them to the stand (it has a bar)?

I was thinking about sewing a pocket across the top of the blanket (like you do with curtain panels), but I'm not sure how well my sewing machine will do with the thickness of the blanket...

Angela

clamps...then if someone steps on it and it wants to pull down..it just comes unclamped from the bar, instead of taking the whole stand with it!

Thanks for the clamp advice. I raided our basement and found some clamps - going to see if those work...

I just checked: JCP still has them on sale and has free shipping through tonight for orders over $49

Susan, there is a lot you can do on a budget.....trust me. I've made do with all sorts of odd looking homemade gadgets over the last 20 years. My first was a homemade bounce card made out of foamcore. LOL Then I did some make-shift white boxes out of foam core to photograph small things to sell on eBay. The list just goes on and on.....get creative and think outside the box.....amazing what can be done with a few things you may have lying around the house.

tape works too lol! And like Deanna said, it ensures the whole stand doesn't topple over if someone steps back too far (and they always do!). Even if I have the pocket to put the rod through, i never would... disaster in the making!
