So I'm looking to print my first book within the next week or so.. I know Winkflash is having their flat rate sale right now, but I've heard more negative reviews than positive ones. The only other places I know of are Shutterfly, Inkubook and ArtsCow.. I'm looking to do 12x12 with about 100 pages {ack, I know!} so the best deal I can get is crucial.. Can anyone help me out??? What have your experiences been? Pros & Cons of different vendors? TIA!!

ScrapHD does printing but I don't think it's live yet! If I do get mine printed at ScrappingSimply! The prints are gorgeous!

MyPicTales does 12x12 books. They have a 25% off sale for Valentine's Day good through 2-14 on their blog.

I've done a bunch of random printing, so I'll summarize my experience.
__________________![]() About a year ago I was printing off a few copies of the same book and ended up trying an 8x8 from Winkflash, a 10x10 from Viovio, and an 11x11 from Inkubook. The Winkflash book (which I got during one of their flat rate sales) was not bad. Their books are not completely square, and so I ended up with a little white edge on two sides of the page. One went into the binding, so you couldn't see it at all, and the other was on the outside edge of the book. Honestly, I thought that it would bother me, but it really wasn't that bad (and actually helped avoid losing anything in the binding of the book). I felt like for the price (during the flat rate sale) it was a pretty good option to use to make copies of my books to give to grandparents. ![]() I loved how the Viovio book was bound. They don't have a fully custom cover option for the 10x10 size, but the outer cover material was really nice. Their site is a little difficult to navigate, but my biggest issue was that the color of my pages was pretty muted - especially in comparison to my Inkubook. I know other people have had good success with them, so that may have just been a one time thing. Inkubook was by far my favorite. I felt like the prints were as good as you can get for a photo book. The only drawbacks are that their largest size is 11x11 (if you are set on having 12x12 - although the 11x11 is pretty close and is a nice size) and you can't print any text on the spine of the book. I have since printed a few more 11x11 books as well as some 8x8 books with them and have not had any issues. They seem to run promotions fairly often - I just got a few books during a 30% off sale they had, and I saw they are now running a promotion where you can buy one 11x11 book and get a second copy of the book free. (The code is on this page) I'd also recommend the glossy cover option - I had used the matte finish a few times and just tried the glossy and really love how it turned out! I've had experience with Shutterfly, but it was years ago. The Shutterfly books I've seen recently are good quality - but it doesn't seem that much better than the other options out there to justify the huge price difference. I haven't ordered a book from My PicTales recently, but I printed a few calendars with them at Christmas and they turned out great. As for true photo prints (not bound in a book), I loved Scrapping Simply's quality. Hope that helps!

I don't print just pages, but I've been using Shutterfly for years- just recently for completely digi-scrapped items. Their quality and customer service is great. The book I just had printed was excellent (80 pages and with all the promos and discounts they were running, I paid $30 and had free shipping). I just discovered they also participage with ebates and give 10% back on your purchases so I'm definitely sticking there! You can stack discount codes as well- not just use one.

I know you have probably decided against Winkflash, but the books I have ordered from them are wonderful-I think the color is very accurate. I have a 12x12 book I made of our Disney trip last year (using the Forester's Wish kit mostly) and it is just beautiful! If value is important, its hard to beat their flat rate prices--I am placing an order today for an 100 page 12x12 book today and my total with shipping was under $40.
They don't offer a fully customizable cover, which is the only complaint I have with them.I second the recommendation to steer clear of Artscow for books-I love their gift products and have gotten some great stuff from them, but the books and calendars are hit or miss on color (mine always look way too red). Whereever you decide to print, you will love having that book in your hands--I always enjoy seeing my layouts in print! Sarah |
