Default fads in baby photography

I was quoted in an article June 27th, in the Globe and Mail - Canada's National Newspaper, on Fads in Baby Photography. The newspaper writer had seen my blog posts on: Portrait Photography Trends and Fads and How to Avoid Over-Editing in Photoshop, and contacted me for an interview.

And although I feel my points were exaggerated, it is still an interesting read. And sure to be controversial. I hoped my quote that said, "the tea cup is just not my cup of tea" would make the article... I know I could get reamed here for that part of the article, but the part she did not include is that I said, "when done well, many fads actually can look timeless." And that includes the tea cup...

Check out the newspaper article here: Fads in Baby Photography

Thanks, Jodi

Interestin article on Baby Photography. I do have to say that Anne Geddes is a fabulous "artist". I think that it is all about what the parents want for a shoot.

Terrific and timely! I don't think any one was denigrating Anne Geddes... her work was groundbreaking. What is annoying is the constant copying and cookie cutter fads & trends. My current pet peeve is harsh, high contrast wonky-color wedding photos.

Great food for thought, Jodi! I am new to DST and really enjoyed the article & your site. My son is a photographer (Portland Oregon Tri-cities Washington Wedding Photography - Portrait and Wedding Photographer) who has recently switched to film-only; I often heard him lament over-editing before he made the switch. I'll be checking your site often as I build my own skills. Thanks for the post

not sure if this could become a fad, but this blog is absolutely adorable, shes not a professional nor is she using a fancy slr, shes just creating these with the things in her home and with her daughter only while shes on maternity leave. Mila's Daydreams This is such a good idea!

I don't think you came across at all as controversial. Excellent points.
