Default Wacom Graphics Tablets

Does anyone use these? I'm thinking about getting one and I am struggling between getting a medium or a large. They say there's more drawing room with the large, but it also takes up a lot of room. Would a medium be sufficient? Anyone know?

I have a medium and I love it! I don't do a lot of drawing, so I can't really speak to that, but I use it for everything else. One comment that struck me when I was reading about the different tablet sizes is that the larger the tablet, the more you have to move your hand/pen.

I have a medium and it is the same width as a regular sheet of paper so it is a format that is familiar for my hand. That format is perfect for me. I also use the tablet for everything: i dont even have a mouse plugged in my computer anymore.

the top corner of the tablet is the top corner of the screen...it's absolute positioning instead of relative positioning. you know how you can run out of room on a mousepad, pick up the mouse, set it back down and continue on the screen from where you picked it up? It doesn't work like that with the pen. It takes getting used to but it also means size isn't always better. I have small hands so the large would be a lot of extra work. I did get the widescreen ratio tablet (4x6) rather than the slightly less expensive 4x5 'standard' size at the time. I felt is was more important to have the height to width match my screen's ratio.

HTH!

When i reinstalled my tablet on my new computer, i realised that you can set your tablet to have such absolute positionning, but you can ALSO have it set like a mouse so that successive strokes would move the cursor like a mouse does. I guess that would be needed though, if you use a dual monitor, so it is good to have that option.

I have a 4x6 and love it! It's small and portable, easy to move across the screen and I've never had a problem with it not being big enough.
So wish I could upgrade to a touch though!

I have the bamboo pen and touch tablet and it's medium size. I love it and wouldn't really want to have anything bigger. It takes practice at first to get the hang of it but once you get it you won't want to ever go back to a mouse.

I have an old Wacom Graphire that is 4x6 and i use it all the time, no mouse. It is set up like a mouse with successive strokes. I LOVE IT!!! I probably need to upgrade but I am very happy with this piece of equipment and the price was only $99 about 4 years ago! I've even had to purchase a new pen as the old one was getting ratty!!!

I've worked on all of the sizes over my career and have to say the medium is the perfect size - especially if you going to use it in your lap. The large is 12x18 - imagine trying to hold that in your lap or find enough space on your desk for it!
