Default Best Computer Specs for Digiscrapping?

My laptop bit the dust this weekend. So I am in the market for a new one. I am totally lost when it comes to computer mumbo jumbo. So I need help with what to look for! I just want something that will run my PSE 7.0 really fast and that I can have the internet open at the same time without freezing up. What kind of processor, RAM, etc. do I need?

The guys at the stores usually do a great job helping with this. They are usually up to date with the latest and greatest things. Then if you know of a website that sells the same thing cheaper, you can just thank them for their help and say that you will think about it. Good luck on your hunt!

Try to buy at least 4g of RAM and 350g of hard drive. Although the hard drive isn't as important as you can buy an external one to store your kits. But the RAM is really, really important - don't skimp on that.

I would have thought anything new-ish should be perfectly fine, other that budget models or netbooks which aren't going to have the RAM to cope with graphics.

I just bought an HP G62 laptop in July and haven't had any problems with it. I've worked on a layout in PSP while at the same time using a flash based chat program in FireFox and also having IE, Word, Excel, FrontPage and Jasc Photo Album opened at the same time. Normally, I don't have that many applications opened at once...it gets a bit too confusing...but I can if I want to. It has 3G of RAM (the RAM is upgradable...I don't remember by how much, though) but I've found that works fine for me.

I bought a Compaq laptop two months ago that has 3 GB ram & 250 GB hard drive...still working as nicely as the day I bought it, which really surprises me, lol. I seem to burn through a lot of laptops anymore (on my second one this year!) so I pretty much have just accepted I will need to buy a new one every 6-12 months and stick with the cheapest thing I can find. I would say as long as you have 3GB of memory you should be in good shape.
