I have seen so many posts on this site about Creative Team Layouts and the stuff they use. I have always been confused by these comments because I have always used what was in the kit only, nothing else. Well, I now understand the frustration.
__________________Recently I bought a kit, surprisingly because I was inspired by the CT layouts and had the perfect pictures to make a similar layout to one I saw advertised with the kit. I am going to be a God Mommy and I loved the layout so figured what I need would be in the kit... Well, when I went back to find the layout at the store (you know the ones they post with the kit, not the ones in the gallery).. Low and behold, I have no idea where they got their supplies!! There were stitches, and other elements in the sample layouts that are just not present in the kit... I was so insanely frustrated by this... This is only the second kit that I have had the money to be able to buy and I really loved the layouts advertised with the kit.. And now I cannot even scrap lift them Well, I probably could, but i have to go through all my supplies now to find other pieces.. So that is my story... I now understand where all the comments are coming from and can completely sympathize. TJ - Trying to record every second of her children's life!! Sorry to hear of your frustration. I believe it is up to the designer the % from the particular kit, that needs to be created in a cT, layout.

I will say sometimes when I see a layout I want to use in a photobook, a qp is the way to go, pm the designer and tell of your desire and she can ask the CT and perhaps sell the qp!? That way you know the little things are CU friendly on the QP and everything is there.

Don't be turned off...be inspired! ![]() Ask the oldtimers in digi for assistance if needed. [Yes, I know I am one of those old-timers] my opinion, and I always have one... A designer creates and uses her vision, as a stepping stone. ["new kit"] A CT...takes that creation and makes it her own [within that designers guidelines]and there are more stones on that pond. A custumer, can visualize one's own photos with the aforementioned artistry, BUT... carries on to a new level that works for them. Jump on that trampoline and carry on!!!! Another option...is purchase QP {quick pages} then what you see is what you get, and pop your photos in. Still know, there are folks around to assist. m |

I would be frustrated with that as well. I don't think sample LOs that use things that are not in the kit being sold belong in stores at all. It's confusing for the customer as you have just experienced. Those LOs are perfect for the galleries where the supplies can be listed. Also, this makes me think of some store listings where the designer simply puts something like "24 papers and 48 elements" !!??? I honestly will not buy a kit anymore if I can't see a listing of the elements. It's a bonus if they list whether the 6 flowers they have are all different or if it is 1 flower recolored.

I'd be frustrated too. Think of it like going to Wal Mart and looking at the pictures on a box of dishes... if you see plates you expect you're going to get plates. I understand : (

I totally understand too. When I create CT pages I always try to use only what's in the kit as I agree that my page should represent the kit.
__________________Some of the designers i have CT'd for agree with this. However some also believe that having that as a rule stifles the CT members artistic expression and so they allow various percentages of other 'stuff' to be used. Then also some other designers believe that using other kits with theirs shows that the kit is versatile. So it's not that the designers are trying to trick you or upset you, it's just a difference of opinion. Unfortunately if you are buying kits because of CT pages, it can be very frustrating. So as stated above, make sure you check out the product description. Also if you can find the CT page you loved in a gallery you should be able to see what elements are not available in that kit. Hope this helps. |
