I have a downloading and installing PSE, a Creating a First Layout, and an Uploading lesson for free on my site:
Free Lessons
They are pdf files with tons of screen shots and very step by step instructions.

We have a whole pile of beginner's digiscrapbooking video tutorials HERE for free!!!

We did them over the 24 days of Christmas so there should be quite a lot of them!!! ENJOY!!!

I posted this one on my blog... it is written from beginning to end with a photo for each step. The tutorial was written using Photoshop Elements 6.

Me too. They had a great contest for "New Kids" that was all for new digi scrappers and focused on learning... it was a great learning experience.

BEFORE that, the one tutorial that really helped me was on AliEdwards.com. She had a free template plus video tutorial using the template; I'd been trying to do it myself with a template and making a complete mess of it, and her video really made it "click" for me.

I agree that it depends on the program. I'm currently using Photoshop CS4 and taught myself how to digiscrap.
