Default QOTD: Have you mastered drop shadows?

Do you feel like you have mastered drop shadows or are you still learning?

I'm pretty happy with my drop shadows yes. When I first became aware of drop shadows a few years ago I did quite a bit of experimenting with them and loved the 3D look that they can give. I have come to realise what gives a good natural effect now - that would be a shadow which is quite diffuse and created at an angle of 45% and opacity depending on the style of the paper etc. Of course it's all a matter of personal opinion...some people hate drop shadows but I think things look too flat without them.

Aw, well... I am happy alright with them. Just when I thought I had gotten it down I got all into graphic style, lol.

i wanted to ask about this! i used to use traci murphys and someone elses, oh wow...its been so long i cant remember her name and all my old stuff was lost in a HD crash. i think it was sarah something and she was at SSD...anyway...i loved the ease of the premade drops....and i liked that they could still be tweaked. i do ok on my own but it ends up being one of the more time consuming aspects for me because i personally feel as a digital scrapper, shadowing makes or breaks LOs. Beauty is in the details right!?

I'm pretty happy with them. And I can't imagine a layout without shadows. To me they're too flat.

Are there any good tutorials on Drop Shadows? I really need to learn how to go beyond just the basics. Thanks in advance!

Me? No...BUT I use Kristin's shadows (action) on all of my layouts and I have received several compliments on "my shadows", but if left up to "me" they would be atrocious!
