Thanks everyone for posting your layouts I read everyone and they are all super. I sometimes wish Creative Forum Discussions were all on a DVD, each one of these discussions is filled with thought provoking posts and wonderful layouts that one could go back and read over and over!
__________________I went back to look at the layouts on my computer and didn't realize how many have stories attached. Some are short an sweet, while others are a bit long winded, but I could tell I seem to want to tell a story! Now to find one of my oldies from the gallery here.

I went a long time before I bought a kit, this is one of them about an outing for our grandson from almost 6 years ago:
__________________![]() This is from a series of little stories of when our family was living in Japan in 1970: ![]() We had just left the Chapel one Sunday morning after the Baptism of Caroline and Paul's son, and found ourselves in the midst of crowds of people waiting for something to happen. There wasn't anything for us to do but join the crowd, since our car was blocked in by theirs and them! At first we heard a faint sound of music that got louder and louder and suddenly the street was filled with lines of colorfully kimonoed ladies, and some guys carrying a very long dragon and having so much fun as they laughed and ran down the street with it! Lovely layouts ladies!
__________________I thought of another one to share--since the subject is Stories! My daughter has three little boys, and lives about 1500 miles from me, so she tells me all the things they get into each day. I've been told that the youngest one is "quite a character!" as she puts it!! We saw them in March, and I agree--but thought I'd do this layout just for him. ![]() and this one is just a character trait of another one of the grandsons!! (he moves too fast!)

I'm really bad at telling stories on my pages, I try to add at least the date and some journalling, though not always, so this did challenge me to look through my photos to find one that had a 'story' behind it, one that I'd never scrapped before.
![]() Thank you for all the useful information and fabulous layouts I've seen in this thread. |

I am horrible at journalling. I can blog away like it's nobody's business, but adding journalling to scrapbook layouts eludes me. I much prefer making an impact with the photos (I did start a love of photography my freshman year of high school with a 30 year old Pentax 35mm SLR...). I'll come back with some layouts for example later, but be prepared for, well, no journalling. Maybe a quote or two - that's usually about it.

It's fun to find different ways to tell stories, other than just straight journaling. Here are a few more from me:
__________________This one tells a little story in a comic format: ![]() And I used that technique again here: ![]() Although this next one has some journaling, most of the 'story' is really told through the images: ![]() (Deanna: when I did a search on 2Ps for this layout to get the URL, I found a similar layout you did on the same subject. I'll leave it up to you if you want to post it. It was wonderful!) Here's another heritage one that tells a story mostly through the photos:

What a great thread! There have been times when I wanted to participate but didn't have time at that moment, and the next thing you know it's too late. And the fact that I haven't been doing this fantabulous hobby for very long, so I am a little insecure about my creations I guess. Well, this got me to upload a few layouts, something I have been meaning to do for awhile.
My style seems to be all over the place...I'm either trying to find my style, or I just happen to like a mix of styles and will remain forever an eclectic scrapper. Most likely the latter. Sometimes I scrap with just pictures that are mostly for artistic purposes, with maybe one word or word art. I've used lyrics, poems, lists, and journaling, and feel that many tell a story, at least to me, or portrays my feelings about something, or what I feel about the person I am scrapping about. The following are more about what one might consider revolving around a story, or event: This is a story about my son's love for ice cream, and his favorite way to eat it: ![]() My nephew, Devon's first birthday, and his first taste of chocolate: ![]() The story about a trip to an amusement park that my son really looks forward to each year. At the beginning of this trip, he hit his head on a metal pole and we had to go to the emergency room. He got "glued" (just missed where he had to get stitches), and he was allowed to go back and try to get a little fun in: ![]() This one is about grandma's tree, where I recall how small it was when we moved there and how huge it is now. It is tradition for the kids to get pictures in it whenever we go over there: ![]() And this is about my son's first day of third grade (still sporting the bandaid from getting his head glued): |

I really like all of your layouts, Lisa Ann-you tell a beautiful story! I really love the one about the tree! Isn't it funny, so many things seem to shrink as we get older- our childhood home, school, even people, when we see them as adults, what was once so big has now gotten smaller! But trees, they just keep growing!
__________________And I can relate to you about changing style. I have many styles and don't like to scrap in just one or two, so I think the word 'eclectic' is a good word, and one you should stick with! |

I have a couple of more storytelling layouts to add, these with a bit more journaling:
__________________The first one tells the story of my overalls that I bought when I went away to college, and the reaction I got when I went home for the summer: ![]() This story took two pages, because it's a long story! (you can read the journaling here: story) ![]() And the last one didn't need too much journaling:
