Default Drop shadows on dark papers?

Do you guys even bother? Every time I add them I can't see them at ALL. Am I doing something wrong or do they just not show?

I think this is more of a universal question, but if it does matter I use DIP.

Yup, I still put them in I usually zoom in to see better since it really is hard to see them on dark backgrounds. I don't spend as much time on them though, since they aren't easy to see. I haven't printed any out with dark backgrounds though, so that would be the real test for me. I know I have just done some of these pages recently though. Maybe I'll have to do a test print to check it out

LOL--I just realized I was actually planning on doing a test print of one of these for other reasons and almost forgot! Thanks for the "reminder!"

Good question. I think I usually put them in anyway. I just copy the style of another shadow on my page that I like and paste the style on the rest of things. I haven't looked closely at any printed layouts to see how that looks. Hmmm...

I made a kit with really dark papers and in fact I lightened them a couple of shades to get the look I was going for but instead of a normal shadow to add interest I added a white shadow.
Here it is if you want to take a look.

I tried the dark shadow and then I tried the white and liked it better myself.

Hope it all works out for you!

I put a normal dark shadow. I'm too much of a perfectionist to think of not having shadows lol.

Instead of putting a shadow on dark papers where it doesn't show, try a very small outer glow. It puts just enough light under the layer to show that it is slightly raised off the paper. Katie at DD taught me this. She has an action that does this for you, too, in PS.
