Is there a Scrapgirls coupon out that I don't know about? I am about to make a large purchase, and hate to find out that I missed out on some savings (It happens to me too often!)

Hi Jennifer. There aren't any ScrapGirls coupons or sales going on right now. If you are signed up for the newsletter, which comes out 5 days a week, you will be the first to know about any sales when they do occur AND newsletter subscribers are privy to special event savings not available to the general public so you might want to subscribe

Janet, that's odd, I've never heard of that. Do you open and view the email version or the online version? It takes too long for it to load in my email program so I always click the link at the top of the NL that comes in my email to go to the online version of the newsletter and read it there. If you are viewing the email version and are having problems try the online version and see if that works better for you. If you still have trouble send an SOS to hello@scrapgirls.com and Angie will try and help you figure it out.

Jennifer, as long as you are signed up for the NL and read it then you never have to worry about missing a sale

I have had a horrible time with the newsletter, too -- it really got bad when they went with this newsletter service that is determined to track your every little move --er, click. Tried it in all of my email accounts, with the same result.
I've had limited success by (a) entering the scrapgirls.com site into my list of "trusted" sites in my IE tools tabs and (b) accessing the online version instead of the one in my email box, but you know, I still can't just rightclick and "save target as" to get the samples. I have to click to download, and then the files go to where my temporary internet files are kept on my computer. And then I have to move those files to where I want to save them permanently. (Scrap Girls isn't the only site where disabled right-clicking drives me nuts, but I just thought I'd mention it, as long as we were talking about the newsletter problems). I used to have to save my purchased downloads in the same way, until just a couple of months ago, when magically, the right-click method began to work. I am really sympathetic to the need to protect content on websites, but you just can't believe what a hassle it is to save files in this method (they won't move immediately -- you have to wait for a certain time period before the website "releases" them, so it often takes numerous attempts before they actually move --it's really weird...) Anyway, that's my story! (Pierre Bernard's Recliner of Rage...lol!! gotta watch Conan to get the reference )

I think the only way to download a file from Scrap Girls is to click on the "download" button. That's how I've always had to do it with any browser.
However, I also know that when I do that, it does ask me where I want to save the files. Depending on the browser, it may just assume you want it saved somewhere, but there should be a setting somewhere in your browser tools that allows you to tell it where to save a file. I just went in with IE to test it, and it pops up a window allowing me to choose where the file should be saved. I do know that people using the msn "butterfly" version of IE isn't quite as compatible, so maybe that's what you're using? I'm also not sure what you mean by waiting for files to be released? I've always been able to access them right away from my account. There is a slight delay (maybe 10-30 seconds) between downloading each file. It's a shame you're having problems. I really look forward to the newsletter and freebies every weekday morning. On the bright side, they are changing the newsletter format very soon, as well as expanding it to 6 days per week, so maybe the newer version will be more compatible for you. |

Nope - I don't use MSN and when I can't right click, it doesn't give me a choice of where to save the files -- that's why they go to the temporary internet files cache. I'm sure it also has something to do with the fact that I don't have the settings in IE on default. Having had my browser hijacked in the past, I'm picky about both my safety and my privacy on the Internet. (I'm somewhere in the medium-level -- I'm not paranoid, just cautious!
) Right now, there's just no really good answer. I hope the new service will help, but I fear it will only send me searching for new answers.
