Default UPDATE: IT'S DEAD! (Money down the drain......time to cry!)

UPDATE: The coroner declared the EHD is officially gone. I could spend $ on recovering the data (if it can be done) Or, I could spend the money on new digi stuff. Or, contact the stores I've purchased items at and hope to recover some items. Or, start making my own stuff from scratch-which would force me to design. What would you do?

My EXD, which I received for Christmas died. I had over $1,000 worth of digi items on it. I was in the very beginning stages of backing it up when it died. All my beloved 1200+ QP's, kits, all my nicely organized kits, elements, templates, ribbons, tags, alphas, papers, and a ton more is gone. Just gone. I'm crying now, feeling so stupid for buying so much and losing so much. Maybe it's time to go back to paper scrapping.
HOW COULD I BE SO STUPID??????????????????

Ohhhhhhh Cindy, I am feeling your pain here! I have had that happen to me once and now I am the queen of backing up monthly when I get the chance. Have you taken it into the shop? Maybe they can recover some of it for you?? Everything is crossed for you here! Big Hugs

Often you can recover stuff from a failed drive - sounds like it may be worth your while to try. I feel your pain - our desktop is dead this morning and I am not happy (luckily I have MOST of my stuff on my laptop - but not all).

You may be able to recover your goodies. I had one of my hard drives fail and was able to recover most of my stuff!! Hugs and good luck!!

Oh, that's just awful! I'm so sorry, it's such a nightmare. I hope you're able to get some help recovering some of that!

Oh no!!! I'm so sorry Cindy!! I had a hard drive fail, but luckily I had built it myself so I could install it on an old PC & get all my stuff off of it. Now I back up to DVD every single time I buy anything or download pix off my camera. I can't take the heartache of the thought. Sometimes they can recover the data. It's usually expensive, but if I had that much of an investment stored on it, I'd darn sure be trying to get it off. I thought EHD's were such a good idea, now I'm starting to worry because I hear so many failing.... Again,
