Would there be an interest from both designers & non designers in something similar to the so you wanna be a digi star? blog.

What I'm thinking was a blog (or something) where people can send in a brief bio & gallery links for designers to look thru when looking for ct members.

Anywho please vote & feel free to leave your thoughts.

i voted other simply because my answer would be yes from both sides of the pond, as a designer and as a ct wannabe.

Way back when......Digital Scrapping World had an awesome resume page for all scrappers and designers. Peta and maybe MizAmyLou might have some more details to share on it since they were active in that forum. I don't know what the specifics were on it, but I recall everyone being able to upload their avatar, list what software they used, links to their galleries, list what teams they were currently on, and list whether or not they were looking to get on a team. I think a resume site like that would be extremely helpful for everyone - designers could just go there and find those who would fit their needs and scrappers would have a place to post their accomplishments as well as desires.

Seems like a great idea. It would probably be good to have a way to specify if people are interested in full-time spots, guest spots or both.

As Kim mentioned there did use to be a resume kind of thing at DSW. It was kind of cool and kind of fun. But I'm really not sure that it was ever really 'used'. I know I personaly only ever used it once in my apllication for a ct - i sent the link to my page with all my details on it.

As to the Wana Be a Digi Star Blog. The concept was pretty much the same as what you have said here.... each person got a blog post about them, details on what they could offer a designer - what teams they may have already been on - what commitments they had etc etc. They also had five-three layouts posted to show off their work, along with links to their gallerys. At first there was even fun silly questions to get to know the scrapper better - but after a time these where scrapped {haha} for various reasons. [I just fournd the blog is still online - i thought I deleted it haha Wana Be a Digi Star blog

Now, not to be a wet blanket at all but I have to say - while there was great enthasium for the idea and a great first response. I found through this experience that hitting my head on the table was more effective then getting people to participate and to actually EMAIL ME BACK!

People would sign up - I'd send them all the info - then I'd never here back again. And for so many 'enthastic' people to just not 'bother' it really started to get frustrating. Worse was even chaseing people up. Emailing them again to find out if they where still interested - Emaling those who has already been on to find out how they where going, if they still wanted their info up - or if they had enough teams now or not etc etc...

and quite honestly - the support for the designers are a whole was extermly minimal - there was some great girls who really took a great chance on so many of the newbies and asked them on to the team - Victoria has my ever lasting apperication for the amount of girls she took on from that blog!

On a small side though. The girls who where on the blog mostly had some great success with their time on the blog.

But at the end of the day the support/participation - from B O T H sides of the community wasn't there. And no matter how many posts I made, how many emails I sent, how funky easy and fun the blog was, or how many times I asked designers for their feedback on it all, there just wasn't the interest. Everyone was all wahoo great idea at the start - but it all died down really quickly.

I personaly found that people just tend to stick with the ct search threads you see pop up on here more often then not. - even when the blog was posted about on even those threads there was never really anyone that went that 'extra' step.

So yes. I voted no.
