My 14yr old son's voice changed almost overnight! At least, it seemed that way to us. It may have been changing over a few weeks, but we noticed it just all of a sudden.

It took my son about a year or so to completely change. He used to sound like me when he was 12 or so....now at 14 and a half he has a voice lower than his dad's. It's a real trip lol.

I guess it's been changing longer than a month but I would occasionally hear the child like voice occasionally. It sounds like he has cold or a "frog in his throat". Guess its' time for me to face the music: he's growing up! He's 6'0" now and 11 1/2 size shoe.

My son is going through this now. It is very difficult for him, because he is a singer. What happens first is the voice goes from high to low (seemingly overnight) and the range is limited. As they continue through puberty, they will get more notes in the upper range and possibly lose notes in the lower range. It is about a 2 year process but varies by individual. Women go through it too, but it's not as noticeable.

My son went back and forth for about 2 months...It was so hilarious because he loved to keep us all updated...
"Mom...today, I'm a man"...Then the next day..."Mommy, now I'm a little boy again"...Aww it was bittersweet!

Huh, I really couldn't tell you how long it took. Both of them went on and off for probably a year. I remember noticing the change but it was just a gradual thing. I am always reminded of the Brady Bunch when I think of voice changes - I think it was Peter who went through the squeaky voice?

My son's voice took about 4-5 months. Now it is so weird to hear all his friends with their "manly voices". LOL
