I know there are always horrid stories about Inlaws. But let's share happy ones, too, and help get the 'vibe' back.
__________________My inlaws are the best in the world. They bless us beyond measure. I only wish they were closer to us to be in the boys' lives daily instead of the couple of times a year we see them now. They blessed us in a HUGE way today - and I just wanted to share how great inlaws CAN be! Last edited by Darcy Baldwin; 08-10-2007 at 11:45 AM. |

Oh.. you mean the STORIES! Your title says happy inlaw stores.. and I ran off to shop for happy in-laws!
__________________![]() Well.. how about this.. at this minute, I'm eating lunch that was cooked by my MIL this morning.. just for me... no... not the leftovers from last night... Which would've been cooked by her too though! Since I get home from work at 8, when I get home, dinner is ready on the table just waiting for me!

I adore my in-laws. They have always been very supportive of us. They've helped us out of more than one bind when we were so poor we barely had two pennies to our name. And they NEVER, EVER made fun of me for being scared to drive. They always gave me the most encouraging pep talks and never made me feel like I was dumb for being scared. When I finally beat that fear, they were so happy for me and told me they knew I could always do it. My MIL is a faithful prayer warrior and she and her best friends pray for us every day. I'm very lucky to have them.

Oh, Darcy I *love* this thread. I never pipe up on in-law thread because they're usually negative and I have nothing to add.
__________________When Chris and I introduced our parents, shortly after we got engaged it was a hoot. We knew they'd get along, but we made it to the restaurant like 5 mintues after they did, and they already had a table, were working on their first drink and deeeeeep in conversation. Chris and I felt like we didn't even need to be there. To this day I'll call my mom up and ask what she's doing for the weekend, and she and my in-laws have plans. That they didn't invite us to. Because we have kids. OMG! My mom and MIL are BEST friends and my FIL and Dad get along famously and throw eachother business. They're both contractors; one commercial and one residential. Our families have so much in common, it's not even funny. Same socio-economic background, same generalized religion (or lack thereof)....even down to Chris' sister is gay and my sister had a girlfriend when we first met. I soooo wish she would have stayed "gay"...but that's another story. Her sister left home and left her dog, so did mine. Chris' grandma lives with his folks and my grandma lives with my folks, and they're great friends. My in-laws support us in every possible way they can, keep out of our business, never offer advice unless we ask for it and are always there to watch the kids. We live 20 minutes away from them, my folks and my SIL and her partner. My sister-in-law is the sister I wish that I had and we're only one day appart in age. She's one day older than me. :P We are soooooo incredibly blessed, it's not even fair. This was no accident, though, I have to say. I don't think that I would have married a guy if I didn't get along with his family and didn't think my family would get along with his. Family is everything to me and I hate the thought of strife. |

Shannon - and isn't that the best!? I know that when my MIL wakes up in the middle of the night..she doesn't try to go right back to sleep - she prays for one of us, or all of us. She then goes back to sleep - she sees it as the HOly Spirit is trying to tell her something, so she prays. She is the greatest at prayer I've ever seen. And we're so blessed because our parents do that for us! I can only hope I can be that vigilant for my children and their children.

ohwww my MIL is so sweet, this morning I brought doggie Tessa over to her, cause we're going to Spain tomorrow for vacation. and she always babysits our tiny dog Tessa. So I brought Tessa to her.
__________________I only had a few minutes to stay cause packing and such still needed to be lots done. My caravan was overweight in the front so I had to empty it out, and repack everything and balance the weight more. anyways when I brought Tess, she had candy, cold drinks and some vacation play books for the kids ready. Also some pocket money for the kids for vacation. Next to that she bought me the latest book of my Shannarah series I'm reading I missed only that book so I'm taking it with me on vacation as well. For Tess she bought a little plaid, a new brush and cookies, so my sweet little doggy will be 4 pounds heavier again when I pick her up.
