Default we have a new "visitor" (picture included)

We were outside yesterday and saw this little guy(or girl) in the canal next to our house. He is still there today just walking around. Really beautiful duck. Just thought Id share because this is not a site you normally see around here. Maybe in a pond or lake you might but not just hanging out in someones yard.

Looks like a mallard drake to me! (male) Aren't they beautiful. MOST of the time, if the bird is VERY colorful it is male. They're the fancy ones!

I already knew it was a mallard but I didnt know how to tell between the girls and boys. I have never seen a single one though. usually when we see them in like ponds or lakes there are several or even a dozen. Im wondering if the little guy is lost.

We have these guys that live intown on the side of the road... on the grassy areas beside the sidewalk where puddles usually accumulate. Even though the lake is 2 blocks away... they live there... about 20 of them. There's a female that hangs out at the entrance to WalMart too, allllllllll day long. She goes home after the store closes. LOL.

LOL thats funny. Is she getting fed there? Might be why she hangs out there so much. We go to a lake in Orlando where there are loads of ducks and they are fed so much they will take the food out of your hand:-)

Beautiful duck! Where I live we have wild pheasants running around. Last week while driving I had to stop short to let one go across the street. LOL
