Question ACDSee?

I'm thinking about getting this program as I've heard nothing but great things about it. So do I get the home or pro version?

I had the home version and I loved it! But, when I switched over to Mac, I don't use it.

I have the home version too. I don't know what your particular situation is that would call for the pro version's features.

There are three specials running right now though so I guess it depends on your needs and/or budget.
  • Buy 1 copy of ACDSee Photo Manager and a receive a second licensed ACDSee Photo Manager on CD, along with a 1GB Sandisk SD card for $59.99.
  • Buy the ACDSee Bundle of ACDSee Photo Manager and Photo Editor for the regular price of $79.99 and you will receive free a second licensed ACDSee Photo Manager on CD and the Four Seasons Digital Scrapbook Kits CD.
  • The last one is for those wanting RAW file processing. But ACDSee Pro 2 for $129.99 and get Naneu Pro Media Wallet and a second licensed ACDSee Pro 2 on CD
Hope that helps!

What do you need it to do? You can tag your files, view fonts, burn cd's and for me this weekend, I have been burning back up cd's of my photos, and it creates offline cd's so I can view the thumbnails without having the cd's in the puter. You can view many file types, even movies and sound files can be viewed. Perhaps the best place to learn more would be here at digiscrap info's website

Hey Paula, I've been thinking about switching over to Mac, so I'm wondering what you use for organizing?

This might be just the push I need to ditch the pc! I'm fed up with Vista

I print the previews out and organize them into a binder according to what they are. I also have a 400 gig EHD and was thinking of using the Gina Miller method.

I LOVE my Mac and will never go back to PC again. If you get a Mac, you'll love it.

Well I downloaded a trial and decided that I am just to lazy LOL to go and tag every single paper and element I have. I think I will just stick with using my folders assigned to designers for a while longer.

And my next computer will be a Mac! LOL

Honestly, I'm lazy too and it was a HUGE pain at first going through and organizing, I'm STILL labeling, and I don't have a bunch done yet.. however, it's AMAZING going through and instead of going "oh.. hey, I had a stitch like that, I didn't know and bought another!!" I'm now saving money and click on my "stitches" tag and viola! Every stitch that I have (that I've thus far tagged) is there and ready for me to view! I don't have to hunt and find in the folders, or go without just because I couldn't find it, or forgot that kit had that element in it!

It seems like a lot of work, but in the long run it's SO worth it!

Thanks for the info Paula. I have DH almost convinced that a Mac is the way to go when I FINALLY get a laptop! Does the mac have a good search function that allows you to tag or annotate? I'm thinking maybe I could try something like that. I dread tagging and stuff, but I know that if I make myself do it, it'll be sooo much easier and faster to find what I'm looking for!
