When I saw Ali Edwards’ challenge to write about what’s going on in your life right now, using the prompt “Currently” or “Right Now,” I knew I wanted to share this great idea with all of you! She begins by talking about how “no one else is going to tell your story from your perspective, in your own unique voice.” Although many of our pages feature children, spouses, pets, friends and loved ones, and even things, every story says something about you.
Her challenge is to sit down and write about your life. And since it can be difficult to know where to start, Ali suggests using the prompt “Currently I’m…” to get the words flowing. Start each sentence or thought (doesn’t have to be a complete, grammatical sentence!) with an “-ing” word. Feel free to grab the list I came up with above and use a few, some, all, or none of them. Keep your answers to a few brief words, or expound your thoughts into paragraphs. It’s up to you, and all about you!
If you want a little inspiration, check out this post by Ali, Stuff in my life right now by anamelesscat, Right Now by SouleMama, and my own personal “Currently” blog post. Also, the most recent Paperclipping Roundtable podcast, Learning to Share, is a wealth of discussion, inspiration, fun, and motivation all related to scrapping about you and your stories, whether you are single, married, have 1 kid, 5 kids, or no kids, teens or grandmas. Your story is important!
I encourage you, especially if you rarely scrap about yourself, to take a few minutes away from your “regularly scheduled” scrapbooking, and sit down with a list of -ing words. Check in with yourself, see what’s going on in your life, and if you feel inspired, document that in a blog post, journal, or scrapbook layout! I would love to see what you come up, if you want to link up your project in the comments.
