What inspired you to create this month's DST Gold Member kit?
I wanted to created something versatile because at the heart of what we do every time we scrap is capture a moment in time. The colours were simple as I'd had them on my next-kit-to-create palette list. I haven't created a kit in months so fortunately they worked with the idea + the time of year!

What is your favorite part or element of the kit?
I loved all of it@ After 7 years as a digiscrap kit designer I am only selling templates. I would love to start focusing on scrapkits and non-template items! If any stores have a spot for a designer who creates templates & kits, I'd love to hear from you (hello@jen-c-designs.com)

Tell us about your family: How long have you been designing? What program(s) do you use?
I have two lovely children, a patient husband and two cats. I've been designing since my daughter was born and primarily use Artrage, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

What part of designing comes easiest to you (themes, colors, papers, elements?)
It used to be colour schemes. I still have private pin boards with stacks of ideas I'd like to return to when I reopen my personal store.

What part of designing is most challenging to you?
Picking a palette for a template scheme. I tried use name/theme/direction based on the directions I can see the template going, but it usually goes in a totally different way! Also time management can be a struggle. I have two young children (7 & 9), I work full time, I also design websites, so there are many ways in which I'm simultaneously pulled!

If you’re running low on design mojo, where do you go to kickstart your creativity?
Do art with my kids - they're both very creative - they'll ask me to draw something - we'll suggest things and improvements. After some "art play" it's easy to flip back into viewing designing with a fresh set of eyes rather than through more stale ones! Plus they love sitting down and doing art with mum. My most important message to them is to be patient. I was told I was useless at art as a child by a teacher. It broke my heart.

What has been the greatest compliment you have received about your designs?
Using your products makes it so simple and easy to scrap!

What is the latest you’ve ever stayed up to finish a design or scrap?
The next day - though my husband was away and I worked through the night - just periodically dozed off!

What’s your favorite snack to have handy while you design?
Dry sweet and crunchy cereal - super yum, but not healthy at all!

What magazines do you subscribe to (scrap & non-scrap related)?
Scrapbook & Crafts Today - resource-technique heavy with lots of inspiration. It's one of the many occasions when you get more than you pay for (as it's free!)

Favorite tv show?
Big Bang Theory & House of Cards - actually pretty much anything on Netflix or Amazon Prime!

Slippers or barefoot?
Slippers with socks - must have given the damp/rain/our cats/etc!
