I often hear from scrapbookers that they want to understand how to get great design, every single time. There is lots to learn about the fundamentals, but this month’s topic will help you perfect your use of words. In this special typography issue, we’re showcasing ideas and tips from the practical to the creative on working with text in digital scrapbooking.
Before you run off to read this wonderful issue, I have one quick reminder for you. As you look at words from a design perspective this month, don’t forget about their purpose and meaning. It’s easy to get carried into a creative place when we’re digital scrapbooking.
While the art does serve an important role in feeling satisfied, most scrapbookers take part in this hobby for documenting their stories too. Photos can have so many meanings. Without words to accompany them, how many stories will be lost to the ages?
Consider that, if you will.
The winner of the Gold Membership, from last month’s letter, is Michelle. She left this comment:
One of my favorite digi-scrap sites has frequent, regular chats, each with a theme or topic: new members chat, swap crops, speed scraps, use your stash chat and many others for each of the challenges and projects they host. They also have many celebrations for anniversaries and special events that include even more chats with creative challenges and just plain fun, like a buffet style scrap challenge and “cram the chatroom.” I see DST has a chat room, but I am not aware of when you have chats. The regularity and frequency of chats is one reason I felt like such a part of a community at my first favorite digi-scrap site.
Michelle, please email me (jennifer@digishoptalk.com) with your DST username to collect your prize!
