Learn Your Craft: Digital Scrapbooking Classes Around the Web

If you’re like me, you seek out step-by-step directions on how to proceed in any new adventure. I’m not the type just throw paint on the wall and see how interesting it looks. It’s the same with digital scrapbooking.

When I began in 2008, there weren’t a lot of tutorials out there; nowadays, there are digiscrap classes, it seems, everywhere you look!

Which ones are best?  Every site’s offerings are different, and scrappers can find something of value at each site. I’ve compiled a list here of  some of the most popular online-class websites.

Try them all, or just one or two, and expand your scrapping knowledge!

Digital Scrapbook Place
One great resource for Photoshop classes is Digital Scrapbook Place. Their classes are typically $30 (US) each. The standard classes range from Introduction to Digital Scrapbooking to Montage to Creating and Using Overlays. DSP offers courses in both forum and self-paced formats, which is a nice feature, although the majority are the forum format.  They also offer specialized classes every month.

Jessica Sprague
Another great Photoshop tutorial site is JessicaSprague.com.  Her Up & Running With Photoshop – Beginning Digital Scrapbooking is currently on sale for $36 (US) (regularly $45 (US)).  She has several courses that get more and more in-depth with Photoshop as you learn the program. If you go with Jessica, you find classes ranging from beginning, intermediate and advanced digital scrapbooking to learning Adobe Illustrator.

Scrapper’s Guide
Another paid class is available at Scrapper’s Guide.  You have to sign up with the site to learn the fee required to take the class, however you can choose either a Photoshop or PSE-based class, which is a nice feature.

MissBehaving Workshops
MissBehaving offers entertaining and educational classes that help you improve your software skills.  Try her Fantasy Style Workshop ($35 US) or Fantasy Style Workshop for PSE ($35 (US) pre-registration) to perfect your extraction techniques and photo manipulations, or sign-up for her Pen Tool Workshop for an in-depth look at Photoshop pen tool techniques.  Want to improve your shadowing?  Take her self-paced Shadows ($19.99 US) workshop.  Whichever class you choose, you’re guaranteed to dig deep into your software while having a great and motivational time!

Great list for tuts…..but you leave a great one out. Hummies World is a treasure trove of tuts, classes, freebies etc. You should have that site here as well.

I agree with Wingz above—You’ve left off Hummie’s World for learning PS and PSE. She has classes from beginners to designers at a very nominal $5.50 a month–the best $5.50 a month I’ve ever spent! I am surprised that she is notlisted in your article!

Another vote for Hummie’s World…I don’t where you get better value and a ton of resources too. Not everyone has $35+ to spend on a class. Stop by ans sign up for a month….you’ll be hooked!
