Paula Kesselring Designs
How long have you been designing?
I was owner of a stationery shop before (since 1996) and last year I decided to stop everything to be a full-time scrapbook designer, although my pay doesn’t reflect full-time work. I officially started selling my designs on February 2010 when I got accepted to sell at Scrapartist. And this year, I started to sell my stuff at Oscraps and at my own peronal store!
What program(s) do you use?
I design primarily with Photoshop CS6 and Illustrator. I use my HP Scanner to scan old photos, doodles, and things to extract.
What part of designing comes easiest to you (themes, colors, papers, elements)?
Making papers and brushes!!! I really love mixing brushes and textures to create a new paper!
What part of designing is most challenging to you?
Extracting! I hate it!
What has been the greatest compliment you have received about your designs?
Ohh, I have the most wonderful customers ever! They always send me notes and emails with sweet words but this week I received a message with this: “In fact you are one of the people who inspired me to begin digital work” and this makes me so happy!
What is your most recent finished project?
I just finished a Dad’s collection for my Oscraps spotlight that I really enjoyed making!
What project are you working on now (or next)?
I’m starting a collab with a designer that I really admire and I’m a fan of the school theme!
How much time do you allocate to designing in a typical week?
I work all days, at least 4 hours per day.
What’s your favorite snack to have handy while you design?
A good cup of hot milk and crackers!
What book are you reading right now?
I love to read and I really read a lot and very fast. Now I’m finishing The Game of Thrones.
Slippers or barefoot?
Havaianas! They are the most famous Brazilian shoes and the world’s best rubber flip flops!
Favorite tv show?
Ghost Hunters and Paranormal State.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Where is the farthest you have been from home?
Well, I really hate airplanes, so Europe was the farthest that I went from here! I wish I could go to Bora Bora or Australia, but they are almost a day away from here!
If you could have one super power, what would it be?
I am a Star Treker who started watching at age 7 (the Next Generation) so I would love to have teleportation power. I would love to be able to instantly be on the other side of the world because I hate airplanes!
Which would you pick…more money or more time?
More money! So I would have more time and less stress!
