New To You: The Magic Flute by Aveziur

This month, let’s meet Eva of Aveziur.

DST: Tell us about yourself and your family.
Eva: My name is Eva and I’m Spanish from Spain. A Spanish rarity, since I’m petite and blonde. I love the sun, the sea and the mountains and I have the good fortune to live near the capital, with all its benefits without its problems. Torrejón de Ardoz is a small town, but with all needs met, and all on hand. You don’t need a car to live, there [is] very good public transport (train, metro buses) and [it is] very fast, but [it is] not necessary as you can walk everywhere. I live with my husband Juanjo (gunner of the Spanish Army) during the last 14 years [as well as with] our son Carlos, an intelligent and hyperactive boy of ten years, the focus of my love, concerns and work. Also with Goldby, a small dwarf Griffon, wh[o] looks like a circus dog.

DST:How did you begin digital scrapbooking?

Eva: I [had] been working in a multinational company and during the summer of 2006, without much work, I decided it was good time to learn Photoshop, and looking for tutorials I [discovered] digital scrapbooking and since then I have not stopped. At first, I had problems because [of] my English skills, but now, if the slang lets me do it, I can access this world without problems. I started my first designs in 2007 and by year end, had my first sales. Although honestly, the quality was not the best of my designs.

DST: What inspires you to design?

Eva: There is nothing in particular that inspires me–sometimes a color palette, sometimes a memory of some experience, sometimes a topic you propose someone, or simply an item. The seasons and the holidays are the biggest source of inspiration, as an active part of our lives, but mostly I like the topics that are close to my daily life.

DST: What other hobbies do you enjoy?

Eva: I can’t sit around, not even watching TV. I can’t let my hands quiet. I love to paint, build, fix, invent … lately I’ve learn[ed] to crochet so this year my boys already have their game scarves and hats handmade. And I have a bag full of different flowers waiting to be photographed. I also love gardening, and although I have no garden, I have the luck to have a large balcony and many plants. And above all, [I love to] do experiments with Illustrator and Photoshop, although rarely do I have time for this, as I [start] to design and am very productive. Creativity is the intelligence having fun! (Einstein).
