Digital elements from Build Your Wings by Michelle Godin and Litabells DesignsHappy New Year's Eve! (Or New Year's Day, to my friends on the other side of the world!) Whether you're planning a big bash to usher out 2012 and bring in 2013 with a bang, or a quiet evening at home with the family, remember to snap a few pictures to mark the occasion. A new year is always an excellent time to start something new, make fresh resolutions, and welcome change. I've rounded up a few digital scrapbooking kits along these lines to help you memorialize this special time - and included a bonus tip involving glitter at the end! What New Year's celebration is complete without a bit of sparkle?!
Now for your bonus tip of the day - fiddling with glitter! I sometimes find that glitter splats and smears look a bit flat on a digital page, especially around the edges. To perk them up, I like to add a slight shadow and glow in the Layer Style box. This probably falls under that "unnecessary tweaking and fiddling" category, but sometimes it's fun to really make your page pop if you have an extra minute.
Here's a quick guide showing a glitter smear (glitter, paper, and arrow from Embrace the Crazy by Studio 68 and Tracy Martin) three ways: Plain, with a basic drop shadow, and with that drop shadow plus an outer glow. I encourage you to play around with the settings to find the perfect combination for your glitter!
Happy scrapping in 2013!
