Fun, right? Want to make some of your own? Here’s how:
First, you need a video clip. Check the user’s manual for your camera. (Google it if you’ve misplaced the copy that came with your camera.) Most digital cameras will take small video clips which are the perfect size for video scrapbook layouts. If you happen to own a digital video recorder, you can use that as well.
Second you need to scrapbook your background. You can use video scrapbook quickpages or create a scrapbook layout for the background for your video clip that is 1024-by-768 pixels. I create mine twelve-inches wide by nine-inches tall, then flatten and shrink it to the required size and save as a .jpeg or .png.
Lastly, you need software or an online program to put it all together. Adobe’s InDesign software will allow you to create video scrapbook layouts. Its price tag is a hefty $699 (US), but there are annual subscription plans $35 (US) per month for a one-year commitment or $49 (US) for a month. You can subscribe and unsubscribe as needed.
Talespring offers a free online service for developing video scrapbook layouts. If you wish to have them host your layouts (for sharing on Facebook, etc.) they offer free storage for the first twenty-five megabytes of storage, then monthly plans for additional storage (ten dollars (US) for two gigabytes).

Video scrapbook layouts will be treasured gifts for your loved ones. They’ll be watched over and over…and passed along. Get those video clips off your EHD and share them this holiday season!
