Do you feel like you’re back in high school geometry? Circles, squares, diamonds, chevron, hexagons, and now triangles! These simple three-sided shapes are the big up and coming rage in both paper and digital scrapbooking. Of course, triangular-shaped pennants have captured our creative interest for quite some time, but triangles are finally being recognized as a design element in their own right.
First I thought I’d bring you a little triangular inspiration from, where else, Pinterest! Check out my favorite inspiring triangle images (linked for credits):
So where can you find triangular scrapping goodies? Popping up everywhere! I especially love the templates, making it super easy for even the geometrically-challenged (like myself) to scrap with triangles.
If you’re on a budget, try shopping your stash. Pull out those pennants, chop them up, and use the individual triangles as design elements. And don’t forget the Shape tool in Photoshop. Choose the Custom Shape Tool, and make sure the Shapes set is selected. You’ll find both an outline and filled-in triangle shape there. Create a shape in the size you want (holding down Shift will keep your triangle perfectly proportional), then clip a photo or paper to it.
Or, go shopping!
If you’re still with me, check out these fun layouts I found in the DST gallery. I think the first layout is especially creative, dividing the canvas in half and scrapping diagonally, creating a dual triangle effect. I hope you are inspired to incorporate triangles in your next project!
